Fujifilm introduces environmental initiative to PrintIT! scheme
Fujifilm today announces that it is working with PrintIT! to develop an environmental angle to the PrintIT! scheme, which will be delivered to schools later in the year.
Graham Leeson, marketing manager of Fujifilm, comments: "We have been a keen supporter of PrintIT! since its conception, and we felt that there was scope to raise the profile of environmental issues within the scheme. The print industry is actively engaged in many initiatives designed to reduce the impact of print on the environment and it is important to communicate these issues to the next generation of designers and printers in schools up and down the country." Fujifilm has therefore worked with PrintIT! to raise the awareness of environmental issues within the scheme so that they can be considered as part of the design project.
Paul Evans, marketing programmes manager of Proskills UK, says: "Fuji has been an enthusiastic supporter of PrintIT! since the scheme was created in 2005, constantly suggesting ways of enhancing the programme. We are emphasising the importance of our responsibilities to the environment in the PrintIT! Scheme of Learning this year and this really helps get the point across to the students who are participating in the course."
Print IT! is a major vocational initiative aimed at supporting Design and Technology teachers of GCSE Graphic Products and Product Design. The aim of PrintIT!, which is a collaboration between the printing industry, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) and the Fairtrade Foundation, is to give students the opportunity to learn more about the many varied facets of the printing industry and encourage them to consider a career in the industry.
