Fujifilm today announces that Independent Newspapers (Ireland) Limited has introduced Fujifilm’s recently launched LP-NNW CTP plate to help reduce its environmental impact.

The LP-NNW plate will run on Independent Newspapers' two Krause LS Jet 300 BlueFin CTP lines which are currently being installed.

Brendan Elebert, production and procurement director at Independent Newspaper (Ireland) Limited, says: "Fujifilm plates have been our plates of choice since opening our CityWest printing plant in November 2000. The new LP-NNW plate requires less laser power and uses Fujifilm's low replenishment chemistry, which results in lower energy and chemistry costs. We're regularly achieving 270,000 run lengths on the plates."

Brendan continues: "In the seven years we've been working with Fujifilm we've experienced no problems at all and the after sales service has been excellent."

The Fujifilm plates will be used to print a wide range of newspaper titles and supplements including the Sunday Independent, Irish Independent and Evening Herald. Total copies printed per week at the Citywest printing plant average 5.5 million.

The LP-NNW plate provides run lengths of up to 200,000 impressions. It is a dedicated high-speed photopolymer plate for violet laser diodes and uses a high sensitivity coating that reduces platesetter production time to prolong its working life. It has superior dot reproduction - less dot gain makes adjustment of the calibration curve easier, guaranteeing consistent printing quality and a sharp dot from highlight to shadow areas throughout the whole print run.
